Kojo Aboagye-Debrah is the Director of Academic Affairs of Unem Programmes in Ghana. He is also Faculty Professor of Unem supervising PhD dissertation/Thesis Seminars and Mphil Programmes. Kojo Aboagye-Debrah since UNEM had institutional accreditation in Ghana had supervised about 50 PhD students over the period.
Besides UNEM programs, Aboagye-Debrah is an external examiner for universities in Ghana and has lectured in top universities in Ghana including University of Ghana Business School, Methodist University Ghana MBA, Netherlands Business School /National Banking College.
Dr. Kojo Aboagye-Debrah, 54 years old (born on 27th April 1968) is an Economist and a Strategist by profession. He has over 26 years of rich banking experience in various top and managerial positions of which over 20 years of his background has been in business development. Dr. Kojo Aboagye-Debrah spent 8 years with OmniBSIC Bank as the Deputy Managing Director (Business) looking at Corporate Banking, Personal & Business Banking, Treasury and the entire 42 Branches (Network businesses). Prior to OmniBSIC, Dr Aboagye-Debrah also worked with Stanbic Bank Ghana (a member of Standard Bank Group) as Special Advisor to the Chief Executive and Head of Business Development for seven (7) years. At the Stanbic Bank Ghana, Kojo supported the Executive Management to transform Stanbic Bank Ghana from a Tier 3 Bank in 2007 to a Tier 1 Bank before he exited in 2014. Prior to 2006 (from 2000-2007), Kojo worked with Universal Merchant Bank Ghana (UMBG) for seven (7) years as Head (Manager) of Research & Strategy Department and in 2006 he was transferred to Corporate Banking to transform the corporate businesses particularly the Heavy manufacturing (mining, hydrocarbon, steel & construction). Kojo after M-Phil degree in Economics in 1995 worked with UT Bank (Metropolitan & Allied/BPI Bank) (1995-1998) as Senior Banking Officer; United Securities Trust Limited as Senior Financial Analyst (1998-1999) and SSNIT as an Investment Analyst (1999-2000).
Dr. Kojo Aboagye-Debrah’s key competencies are in Business Development, Strategic Leadership and Management, Relationship Management, Risk Management, and Economic Research and Analysis. Dr. Aboagye-Debrah has also lectured on part-time basis in Business Development, Strategic Management, Economics and Quantitative Methods in various esteemed Universities including University of Ghana Business School.
Dr. Kojo Aboagye-Debrah currently, serves as Director on the following Boards:
1. Chairman, Board of Trustees of Econs 92 Fund
2. Board member Adansi Rural Bank Plc (appointed in December 2022 and he is going through the Bank of Ghana Personality Notes/Checks)
3. Member of Finance Committee of National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Regulatory body of Petroleum industry in Ghana.
Dr.Kojo Aboagye-Debrah holds a PhD in Strategic Management from Business University of Costa Rica and an M. Phil and BA Degree in Economics from University of Ghana, Legon. He was also a fellow of University of Ghana/USAID (1993-1995).
